The Sage Tonsil Snare is a specialized surgical tool used primarily in tonsillectomy surgeries to remove tonsil tissue safely and with minimal bleeding. It measures about 8 5/8 inches (22 cm) in length and features a right-angle design for optimal maneuverability within the oral cavity, allowing the surgeon to reach deep into the throat without obstruction.
The instrument consists of a hollow shaft housing a wire loop at the distal end. This wire loop can be extended around the tonsil tissue and then tightened to sever and crush the tissue, reducing bleeding by compressing blood vessels. Made from high-quality stainless steel, the snare is durable, reusable, and autoclavable. Some models include ratchet-lock handles for self-retaining clamping, providing surgeons with better control during the procedure.
