The Beeson Cast Spreader is a heavy-duty orthopedic instrument designed to aid in the removal of plaster casts safely and efficiently. Measuring approximately 12¼″ (31 cm) in length, it features twin flat, bevelled blades—each about 2 in (5 cm) wide—with horizontal serrations on their outer surfaces. These jaws are joined by a rivet/screw joint and connected to solid grip handles. After a preliminary cast cut, the surgeon inserts the closed blades into the plaster, squeezes the handles, and spreads the sections apart, easing cast removal.
